About us
Ridgeway Skylights Swindon works from no public premises. We carry out work at customers' homes in Swindon and the area within about 30 road miles. Our email address is info@ridgewayskylightsswindon.co.uk and our WhatsApp number is 07880 284133.
Surveys and quotes
Surveys are free and carry no obligation. After the survey we send a written quote with a job plan attached. The quote names the unit, the size, the work included and the price for each part of the job.
A quote is valid for the period stated on it. Prices for products depend on manufacturers' list prices, so if a quote expires before you accept it, we will confirm the figures again before ordering. Any price given before a survey is an estimate only.
The planning position we describe in the job plan is our reading of the information available for your address. The council makes planning decisions, and Building Control bodies make their own decisions on the work.
Accepting a quote
A contract is formed when you accept the written quote in writing (email or WhatsApp is fine) and we confirm. The quote, the job plan and these terms together make up the agreement. If anything in the quote differs from these terms, the quote takes priority.
Payment
Payment terms are set out in the written quote for your job, including any deposit, when it is due and how the balance is paid. We do not ask for money for the work before you have the written quote and job plan.
If the work needs to change once it has started, for example because of something hidden in the roof structure, we will explain the reason and agree any change in price with you in writing before carrying it out.
Your right to cancel
Contracts agreed at your home, or by email, phone or WhatsApp, are usually off-premises or distance contracts under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. You have 14 days from the day the contract is made to cancel it for any reason. To cancel, tell us clearly by email or WhatsApp. You can use the model cancellation form we provide with the quote, but you do not have to.
If you cancel within the 14 days, we refund any payment you have made within 14 days of being told, using the same payment method.
If you ask us in writing to start work, or to order a unit, before the 14 days have passed, you can still cancel, but you will pay a fair amount for work already carried out. A unit made to your measurements cannot be resold, so the quote explains how its cost is treated if you cancel after asking us to order it. Once the work is fully completed at your request, the right to cancel ends.
Fitting day and access
We agree a fitting date when the unit is ordered. Please give us safe access to the roof and the room below on that day, and let us know about anything that could affect the work, such as pets, parking restrictions or fragile items near the opening.
If weather or a supplier delay makes the agreed date unsafe or impossible, we will tell you as early as we can and agree a new date with you.
Building Control and guarantees
Where the work is notifiable under the Building Regulations, we handle the notification to Building Control. Our workmanship carries a 10-year guarantee, described on our guarantee page. The manufacturer's product warranty is separate and passes to you.
Liability
We carry out all work with reasonable care and skill, as the Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires, and nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
We are responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of our breaking this contract or failing to use reasonable care and skill. Loss that was not foreseeable, and business losses, fall outside our responsibility, as our service is for domestic customers.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.
Complaints and law
If something is not right, please follow our complaints procedure so we can deal with it promptly. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
These terms were last updated in October 2026.
